In New Jersey, the Pretrial Intervention (PTI) Program is a diversionary program designed for first-time offenders charged with non-violent crimes. It allows participants to avoid prosecution and the consequences of a criminal conviction by completing a period of supervision, rehabilitation, and other court-imposed conditions. The program focuses on addressing underlying issues such as substance abuse or behavioral problems that may have contributed to the offense.

Eligibility is generally limited to individuals without prior convictions or previous participation in diversion programs. Successful completion of PTI results in the dismissal and expungement of charges, while failure to comply returns the case to court.
