What is Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition or ARD?

In Pennsylvania, ARD stands for Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition, a pre-trial diversion program designed for first-time, non-violent offenders. Its goal is to rehabilitate individuals and avoid a criminal conviction, offering them a chance to clear their record upon successful completion of the program.

Participants must meet specific conditions, such as community service, payment of fines, and attending educational or treatment programs. If completed successfully, charges are dismissed, and participants may petition to expunge their record. However, failure to comply with the program’s terms can result in prosecution resuming.

If you have been charged with a criminal offense in Pennsylvania contact Bidlingmaier & Bidlingmaier for your free consultation.
